My husband bought me some pink GHD hair straightners 6 months ago from our local hairdressers, they have just recently stopped working so I returned them to GHD for a replacement or for them to fix them. I had no receipt so I could not take them back to the salon where they were purchased.
GHD have returned the product with a letter explaining that they are counterfeit. My husband paid approx 鎷?00 for these and unfortunately I have no receipt, but do have witnesses as proof of purchase - Does anybody know where I stand and what rights I have as a consumer?
Counterfeit GHD's bought from a local hairdresses 6 mths ago, I have lost the receipt, what do I do?
Any goods purchased have to be fit for the purpose they were sold for...these clearly are not. I would intitially consult the hairdressers about it, maybe when they have a few customers in ear shot. They will not want word of this to get out whether you have a receipt or not, theres no smoke without fire so to speak.
As for the receipt, there is no legal requirement for a receipt to be kept, only reasonable proof of purchase. If you husband paid by card then the payment will show up on his bank statements and he can use that as reasonable proof. I would also report this to you local trading standards department at your council.
Best Wishes

whether or not you have a reciept return them to hairdresser who will know they sold them to you ..demand a full refund or inform them you will go to trading standards ..[ number for your area readily available on internet] tell them you will also inform local press letting others who have also purchased them know .. this should get results .. if they sold you fake they will know .. fake ghd are rife they probably bought a job lot from ebay to sell on

Take them back to the salon they are not fit for purpose under s14 and do not correspond to description under s13 Sale of Goods Act these are implied terms in any contract for sale of goods - condition of contract- strict requirement allowing you to rescind (get your money back). Surely the hairdressers are going to be looking at their own interests - do they really want you telling trading standards about their counterfeit goods? Also if by any chance paid by credit card, under Consumer Credit Act you should get money back off your creditor as debtor -creditor- supplier agreement.
